Turn Your Home Into A Summertime Retreat

Are you ready to turn your home into a summertime retreat?

Well, there’s never a better time than now to usher in the new year. We’re already in the 2nd month of the new year, but for many of us in the northern hemisphere, it’s still winter. So that technically doesn’t count.

We say this because, well – it’s winter – and for the most part, it sucks. Here’s some great news. Just like every Hollywood starlet’s career, this too shall eventually pass and in its stead, we will welcome back long, languid, lazy days of summer.

So while you’re dreaming about what’s to come, let’s talk about turning your home into the perfect summertime retreat.

MOOD MATTERS

Before you start thinking about decorating and potentially remodeling make your home a summertime retreat, start with the structural checks of your home. Check your AC and ensure that its filter is replaced if needed.

Make sure the freon is full and that is in order for it to do what it needs to do. This way, when that first sweltering day hits, you’ll be cool as a cucumber. No one wants to wait for a technician to get to you on the hottest day of the year.

POOL PLEASURES

As with the AC, you also should start thinking about getting the pool guy out to check the pool. Check the filters and the tiles or mosaics if you have them.

Check the pool cover for cracks or tears. Whatever work you do now – will save you time and money later.

FOCUS ON THE INSIDE

Yep, spring cleaning is clearly going to be high up on that list. The sooner you can get started with that the better. All of those lovely little house guests you’ve been unknowingly entertaining all winter long must be given their marching orders long before the temperature heats up. That’s when they can become a very, very real problem.

Turn your home into a relaxing retreat for the season, as staycations are still on the cards for many families recovering from the pandemic. If you’re blessed to have larger living spaces indoors, play with color and texture and rich varied fabrics that are still light and airy.

These add a sense of luxury to your spaces, while bright colored vases and objet d’art give your home a sense of the eclectic and contemporary.

PLANTING FOR YOUR LIFE

Come on, there is no excuse for it anymore. It has become beyond easy to start your own vegetable garden at home, so get the right soil, get dirty, and start connecting with your earth.

It doesn’t just make financial sense, but it’s a great activity for the whole family for some wholesome bonding time. And you’ll also be doing your health and immune system a favor too.

It’s time to shake off the past two years and make room for the new. Why not turn your home into a summertime retreat today.
