The idea of moving in a week or less sounds scary! But sometimes, circumstances call for a quick move.

Living a simple life brings tremendous rewards. You feel less stress, there’s no need to keep up with the Joneses, and you can focus on the stuff that matters – your health, relationships, and value. So when it comes to moving, merely having less stuff can help dramatically. So much so, in fact, that moving in a week or less becomes a genuine possibility.

Home Sweet Home Carpet

Part of the reason we do what we do here is to foster freedom. The more you can remove unnecessary drags on your life and wellbeing, the greater your ability to live a life of your choosing.

You should be able to live where you want, when you want, as the mood strikes you. In this post, therefore, we’re going to take a look at some tips for moving in a week or less. It’s way more straightforward than you think.

Tip #1: Don’t Worry About Organization

People tend to get very caught up in organizational issues when packing for a move. They believe that they need to meticulously label every box and chronicle its contents precisely. This strategy, however, rarely makes much of a difference at the other end and tends to waste time. It is a popular talking point on blogs, but, in reality, it’s overblown.

You can spend days just labeling and packing neatly, but what’s the point? When you open your boxes at the other end, you’re just going to carry your items to the relevant part of your home.

Tip #2: Only Take What You Need

A lot of people like to hire a skip before they move. It provides a convenient receptacle for all the things that they no longer need. So before you go to your new property, have a big clear out. Put everything you won’t use in the skip, and use it as an opportunity for a fresh start.

Tip #3: Use Storage When Moving in a Week or Less

When you want to move fast, you want maximum flexibility. You don’t want to have to rely on third-party companies, like movers, to coordinate everything on the day. Instead, you need the logistics to follow your schedule.

A storage unit

Finding a storage provider should be your top priority. With one of these, you can keep all your possessions at a secure third-party site for as long as you like, transporting stuff to your new home when it is convenient to do so.

Tip #4: Deal With Your Procrastination

Procrastination is a strange thing. We know that it feels good while we do it, but long-term, it creates massive problems. Moving procrastination is a real thing and something that a lot of people struggle to overcome. You know you need to start packing and organizing, but you find it hard to do so.

Here’s some pro advice: tell yourself you’re going to spend five minutes doing something related to the move. Using this trick gets your brain to take the first step. Following that, everything becomes much easier. Often you find that five minutes go by, and you’re still working.

Final Thoughts on Moving in a Week or Less

When moving in a week or less, don’t procrastinate, don’t worry about organization to much, get a storage unit and make sure you only take what you truly need and want. This will make an unexpected and quick move much easier.
