How To Keep Your House Clean

Get Organized.

Pen, paper and a moment to list all of the jobs in the house is a good place to start in order to keep your house clean. It’s not a mountain to climb, cleaning. You want to ensure that your house is calm and clean, but you need to know what the jobs are that need doing. Starting with the toughest jobs and moving to the easier jobs on the list is a good place to be. Start with three or four house cleaning routines and these are the ones that you need to stick with every single day. This is your basic list of things to begin with!

Simplify Each Task.

If you want to make each task easier on you, simplify them all. You want to get rid of all the clutter, all of the multiples of each item that you have. This will be the easiest way to get the house cleaned. If you have a pile of books on the floor, get a shelving unit and make those books appear on those! You can then see everywhere in the house that requires your attention better. When you declutter, you create more space and less mess to clear around.

Empty Surfaces.

All of the counters, tables and dressers should be clear. They’re easy spaces to leave clothes and books, rubbish and paperwork. You have to do everything possible to keep the surfaces empty of all issues so that you give yourself less of a job to do every day. You give your home an instant spacious feeling when you keep the surfaces clear, too! This helps to keep your house clean.

Rope Everyone In.

Whether you live with your family or you live with housemates, you need to do all that you can to get everyone else involved in picking up the mess. If they live there, they can get involved and pick things up. Getting those daily messes cleared up is a smart way to ensure that you teach the kids some responsibility. Once you get them used to clearing up after themselves, you’re going to teach them some key life skills.

Make It Fun.

Ramp up the music and get the house cleaned together. You’ll move from job to job and by the end of it, your home will smell and look fresh once again. Get the kids throwing their toys into baskets and putting their laundry in the hampers. Once they learn to pick up their mess, they’ll get into the routine of doing it without being asked to do it at all and you will be able to keep your house clean.

Mop Last.

Before you go to bed every night, mop all of the smooth surfaces in the home not covered in carpet. Doing the floors before bed means that you won’t have to worry about anyone having an accident while they move around, and it prevents any more dirt from spreading around. You want to avoid any dirt spreading – it’ll only create more work for you!
