If you plan to do a lot of entertaining at home, you will need to make sure your house is suitable for great entertainment.  Here are some fantastic ways to make your home great for entertainment and make sure that the best parties and gatherings always take place there.

Making Great Entertainment at Home

Foyer

The first thing your guests will see as they walk into your home is the foyer.  This makes it one of the most important parts of the house. After all, you never get a second chance to make a first impression.  Keep this space bright and airy and most of all functional.  This is a space where you can never have too much storage as you can hang your guests’ coats and have a shoe rack here too. It is the first place they see before the entertainment starts.

Living Space

Open plan is the best type of living space. Especially if you plan on doing a lot of home entertainment.  This enables your guests to move around and chat with different people.  Incorporate your kitchen into your main space and you will never have that crushed party atmosphere where everyone is crammed into the kitchen because that is where the food and drink is.

Seating Arrangements

You should consider your seating arrangements carefully as your needs will differ depending on what type of entertainment you are doing. This can change frequently.  A large dining table is perfect for dinner parties. But you may want a more intimate space too. Especially if you are planning on throwing a board games party or hosting a movie night. An additional, smaller table and plenty of comfortable chairs will be a good combination. This will give your guests a lot of choices.

Kitchen

Whether your kitchen is part of your main living space or not, you will want to make it as functional as possible.  Concentrate quite heavily on storage space. You may want to put a lot of your utensils away if you have guests. Think about whether you will be cooking for a lot of dinner parties. If so, what type of food you would prefer to make and how many guests you are likely to invite.  This will give you a good idea of what appliances you will need for your kitchen and the size of them.

Basement

Your basement could be utilized as a separate entertainment venue.  For example, you could turn this room into a movie theatre. Use a large TV, some comfy sofa, and a fridge for the snacks.  Alternatively, this area could be a games room.  Invest in a pool table and a golf simulator – SkyTrak’s golf simulators are amongst the best. That way, your friends will be spoilt for choice when they come round for games night.

Backyard Entertainment

If the weather is right, the backyard is a fantastic place for entertainment. You won’t have too much cleaning to do in the house afterward.  If you will have a lot of children coming to play you might decide to lay grass in your backyard. Then you can the space as a children’s play area.  If your guests are more likely to be adults, an outside bar could be a fabulous addition to your backyard.  If you have space and the weather is good, guests of any age will enjoy a dip in your pool.
