The weather is cold here! Thank goodness I have this Split Pea Soup Mix in a Jar Recipe! There is nothing more warming than a hot bowl of this soup. This soup will get your energy level in check. I look forward to this hot soup after doing my homesteading chores on the cold days here.
Split Pea Soup is made from dried split peas. It is packed full of protein and fiber and low in fat.
This recipe mix is made by combining all the ingredients into a large wide-mouthed jar with a tight fitting lid.
Why I Love Split Pea Soup and You Will Too!
This is an excellent gift idea, or an easy to store item for your own pantry. When I make this mix in a jar I always have requests for more! And I always make sure I have plenty on hand for those cold days!
It does not require you to soak the peas overnight. Therefore, this is a fairly quick dinner with just between 45 and 60 minutes from start to finish. You can also add cooked, chopped ham if desired. My favorite thing about this recipe is that all of the ingredients are things I normally stock on my pantry shelves.
How I Serve Split Pea Soup
I add a touch of cream and some homemade croutons when serving. This makes for a hearty and wholesome meal anytime of the year. You can serve it as a hearty lunch with a salad too!
Toasted bread with fresh butter makes a great side for this hearty soup. This is an old-fashioned favorite that I know you will absolutely make again and again.
I hope you enjoy this delicious soup as much as my family does! For more healthy and yummy recipes be sure to check out my Homestead Recipes Pinterest Board!
