Most people love applesauce, especially kids! My family can’t get enough applesauce. However, store-bought applesauce just doesn’t taste as good as home-made.  And I have found the best and easiest recipe yet to make my own! It has simple ingredients. It takes less than 10 minutes to prepare. And the result is delicious crockpot applesauce with minimal effort!

Because this recipe is my own, you may want to add or reduce the amount of some of the ingredients to your taste. This crockpot applesauce freezes well and cans well, however, I can’t seem to keep it long enough to see when it actually starts to become bad. I guess that means I scored a winner with this one!

If you want to make this for small children or someone who is diabetic you can eliminate the brown sugar, just make sure to use sweeter apples. You can also experiment with the types of apples you use. I prefer the red delicious, however, other types of apples should work too.

Here is a list of the types of apples I have used in the past that worked out pretty well if you need to know where to start. Check out this page for information about different apple types!

  • Granny Smith
  • Red Delicious (my preference)
  • McIntosh
  • Fuji
  • Yellow Newton
  • Gala
  • Golden Delicious
  • Johnathon

Crockpot Applesauce
Instructions
  1. 1. Core, peel, and then cut the apples into small chunks, mine were between an inch and two inches.
  2. 2. Place all of the ingredients, including the cut up apple pices into the crockpot and stir.
  3. 3. Set the crockpot on low and mix all the ingredients together until blended. After the ingredients heat up you can use a masher to help the process along.
  4. 4. At about 4 hours you should start smelling the warm aroma. Taste your applesauce and add more cinnamon or brown sugar if needed. Stir well.
  5. When your applesauce is done you can place jarred applesauce in the freezer, or can it for longer storage.
Recipe Notes

The amount of applesauce will vary according to the size and number of apples used. I filled 6-pint jars by using the recipe above. I used large red delicious apples.
